QUANTUM ME
Quantum Me is a 16’ stainless steel and dichroic plexiglass sculpture that seeks to bring a sense of joy and discovery to viewers. Alderman Matt O’Shea, the Beverly Arts Alliance and I worked with the community before ultimately deciding to place the sculpture at the 99th Street Metra station.
The sculpture is dedicated to my wonderful mother who did a fabulous job of creating a safe home and family for me. The sculpture uses dichroic plexiglass which was developed by NASA in the late 70’s to protect astronauts from radiation. This unique material changes colors like a dragon fly’s wings as you pass by. Seeing this phenomenon for the first time often brings a smile to the viewers face and a little more joy into our world.
